48HR Film Challenge ‘In Light of light’ public premiere on Spidvid.
by john on Sep.04, 2010, under Films, Site News, Uncategorized
In 2009, there was a 48hr SCI-FI film challenge held in London. One member from every team had to be in London… (Travel in itself was 3-4 hr to get there from B/sea, Essex!) …to be given:
1) A title for a film; ‘In Light of light’ was ours.
2) One Prop.
3) One sentence had to be said in the film.
We had to make up a whole story around the theme! So Write, Shoot, Edit, complete! And then of course take another 3-4 hours off that to make it back to London at the said time two days later. (You know you London Based film groups had an extra 6+ to sweeten your films
It was a hard task. Many didn’t complete it. We are happy to be among the few that did. This isn’t necessarily a ‘Chance’ film, but certainly isn’t bad either. There’s elements of past work combined in the SCI-FI/Action element, I see watching it now which was a unconscious decision. But for anyone that know us we are quite the perfectionists!
The more time spent on the film the better job. In filming and post. (Read my rant on this soon)
As said not a bad film and we did complete the task. The most important thing! After all was done i slept like a baby for the next couple of days …
Featuring music by Simon Barratt and David Moulton who helped us out at the last minute.
So here it is for the first time one of our films online only on our pal Jeremy Campbell’s website Spidvid.com.
Enjoy!

Coming soon … The Veil US CUT
by john on May.24, 2010, under Films, People, Site News, The Veil
THE VEIL US CUT coming soon…
2010 is the busiest year yet for the Chances. So not only are we at work on two short films this year the horror titled; apt. (synopsis and main trailer for film will follow shortly) a sole project directed by myself, which will be released in festivals starting July of this year and … Chance Brothers are back with The Timeslip; A SCI-FI, time travel thriller which will wrap up filming and post by fall of 2010!!! … here’s the extra kicker!
We have made a re-working new cut of our debut horror feature The Veil (working title) – The Veil US CUT. The main reason behind this is a few things; we wanted to give the The Veil the attention it so rightfully deserves over the many years by starting afresh to a new audience that missed out (the early days underground film was only shown at a few viewings including The Portobello Film Festival in London, 2005) and/or for the people who would like to see a tighter more taught version of the original. We also felt the quality of version that was released very much differed from our original masters (of which many critics applauded the film.)
Firstly; This is the real deal. The newer cut is a nice 1hr 43min as opposed to 2hr 30 min, though we would initially one day like to release the original cut when the film has picked up momentum over time and the public demands it.
But MOST importantly this version Directed by Richard Chance (which will be hitting festivals the same time apt. will be) is endorsed by it’s filmmakers. This is the version we want you to see. It will actually benefit the filmmakers. After hitting film festivals worldwide this year and local L.A theatres we will have already started looking for new distributors for the film. Contact here people/companies of interest …
The Veil DVD of 2008 (current) should not be sold or rented new anywhere, anymore as distribution has ceased. I beg for the audiences to look out for The Veil US CUT the real thing this year in film festivals and i promise you; our loyal long time supporters and the newly intrigued – the eventual DVD release will follow. We are very happy with this new version and can’t wait for everyone to see it!
So a summary;
apt – Premiere The International Action on Film Festival (Short) July 2010
The Veil US CUT – Premiere The International Action on Film Festival (Feature) July 2010
The Timeslip – completed and released in festivals Autumn / Fall 2010.
Watch this space as always! Trailers and information on all our new films to follow shortly!
All best,
John
