THE TIMESLIP WINNER OF BEST SCI-FI @ GEEK INDEPENDENT

by john on Oct.19, 2011, under Films, SCREENINGS, Site News, The Timeslip, Uncategorized, apt.

Last week Indiana’s very own Horror / SCI-FI Film Festival the Geek Independent Film Festival showed both Chance Brother’s The Timeslip and my very own short film Apt.

It was to my great surprise they showed both films and now … with Apt. nominated for the Delta Award at the up and coming the Festival of Fantastic films in Manchester England this Sunday (please do go if you can make it!)  it gives me great pleasure to announce The Timeslip won BEST SCI-FI at the Geek Independent Film Festival!

Richard and I are so happy that the film is being warmly received critically with reviewers and by festivals. With only 5 winning categories at the Geek Independent it makes us very proud to have been chosen as one of them.

UK PREMIERE OF APT. – A DELTA AWARD NOMINIEE

by john on Oct.04, 2011, under Films, SCREENINGS, Site News, Uncategorized, apt.

My short film Apt. has now got a UK premiere at Manchester’s very own Festival of Fantastic films – It will be showing on Saturday October 22nd. The yearly horror film festival are renowned for having great guests attending and this year is no exception!

They have some great actors and directors of the golden age of the British horror genre as well as Bobby Rhodes of  Demons, Demons 2 fame – you know it’s going to be a blast!

On top of this I was wonderfully surprised to find Apt. is shortlisted for the Delta Award (the very same award we were nominated for with Chainmail in 2007!) it’s great to see both Apt. and The Timeslip getting into some great festivals this year! Keep checking for more updates on festivals this year and next!

48HR Film Challenge ‘In Light of light’ public premiere on Spidvid.

by john on Sep.04, 2010, under Films, Site News, Uncategorized

In 2009, there was a 48hr SCI-FI film challenge held in London. One member from every team had to be in London… (Travel in itself was 3-4 hr to get there from B/sea, Essex!) …to be given:

1) A title for a film; ‘In Light of light’ was ours.
2) One Prop.
3) One sentence had to be said in the film.

We had to make up a whole story around the theme! So Write, Shoot, Edit, complete! And then of course take another 3-4 hours off that to make it back to London at the said time two days later. (You know you London Based film groups had an extra 6+ to sweeten your films ;-) It was a hard task. Many didn’t complete it. We are happy to be among the few that did. This isn’t necessarily a ‘Chance’ film, but certainly isn’t bad either. There’s elements of past work combined in the SCI-FI/Action element, I see watching it now which was a unconscious decision. But for anyone that know us we are quite the perfectionists!
The more time spent on the film the better job. In filming and post. (Read my rant on this soon)

As said not a bad film and we did complete the task. The most important thing! After all was done i slept like a baby for the next couple of days …

Featuring music by Simon Barratt and David Moulton who helped us out at the last minute.

So here it is for the first time one of our films online only on our pal Jeremy Campbell’s website Spidvid.com.

Enjoy!
